a Beacon of Innovation for Micro Businesses
I recognised there was a real need for Peer Power. No one really teaches entrepreneurs how to run their business, the support currently offered is often inappropriate, provided by people with little or no experience of running a business. The alternative of working with an established coach or mentor is just too costly for small businesses with a limited budget. I needed to find how I could resolve this problem by providing the high quality support needed, at an affordable price that is both useful and practical?
This is how the concept was born.
Eight months later I am proud to say Peer Power was nominated for an Innovation Award – after initially feeling quite honoured, I started to ask myself “Why?”, and “what is it that I do that is different?”. I’ve tried to summarise my thoughts below. Here’s what I came up with.
I have a unique approach to business support. Peer Power’s concept of business support groups specifically tailored for micro business owners by harnessing the power of peer learning and collaboration, Peer Power addresses the distinct needs of this demographic in a way that traditional mentorship programs cannot.
The environment is safe and secure. Privacy and security are paramount, in the Peer Power groups we prioritise confidentiality and trust, fostering a space where members feel comfortable sharing challenges, ideas, and insights without fear of judgment or exposure.
The sessions are priced at an affordable level. One of Peer Power’s most notable attributes is its commitment to affordability without compromising on quality. Recognising the financial constraints often faced by micro business owners, we offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional mentorship models, making invaluable support and resources accessible to all.
Community Driven Learning
We foster a community driven learning environment. At the heart of Peer Power lies a vibrant community of like-minded peers united by a common goal, to build the businesses they desire. Through collaborative learning and shared experiences, members gain not only essential business skills but also a sense of belonging and camaraderie that propels them towards success.
Since its inception, Peer Power has garnered widespread recognition for its tangible impact on its members. We’ve had a number of success stories that stand as testimony to its innovative approach, with participants reporting significant growth, increased confidence, and enhanced resilience in the face of challenges.
This is just the start. With scalability and sustainability forming the foundation of the vision, Peer Power has the potential to revolutionise the way micro business support is delivered on a national scale. By leveraging technology, providing conferences as well as the monthly sessions and harnessing the collective wisdom of its community, we will continue to expand and impact entrepreneurs across the country.
What does the Future hold?
The goal for Peer Power is not to stop here. It is my intention to support over 10,000 business in the next 5 years through the structured monthly sessions, a dedicated events programme called PowerFest and a learning platform for all members of the community to access.
In conclusion, Peer Power embodies the spirit of innovation in its quest to empower micro business owners to realise their full potential. Through its unique approach, commitment to affordability, and unwavering dedication to community-driven support, Peer Power is reshaping the landscape of business education and mentorship one entrepreneur at a time. For these reasons and more, Peer Power is undoubtedly deserving of the nomination.
